People are delusional that dogs can eat everything. If you own a dog, than you should read a list of ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center experts. They have posted a list of toxic people foods that dogs should avoid.

One of the most dangerous things that your dog must avoid is surely the alcoholAlcoholic beverages and food that contain alcohol can cause diarrhea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, abnormal blood acidity, tremors, central nervous system depression, coma and even death. Chocolate, coffee, andproducts with caffeine are something that people can’t resist. All those tasty things have substances called methylxanthines that can cause many side effects in dogs such as vomiting, panting, excessive thirst and urination, tremors, seizures, hyperactivity, abnormal heart rhythm, diarrhea, panting and even death.

Citrus fruits can also cause irritation and central nervous system depression because they contain citric acids and strong essential oils. If they are taken in small doses, they are not likely to present bigger problems. Even though it is not known that grapes and raisins have a toxic substance, they may lead to a kidney failure in dogs. When a coconut is given in small amounts, it is not likely to cause serious harms. However, be careful when you’re giving coconut-based products because they contain oils that may lead to stomach problems, loose stools or diarrhea.

Macadamia nuts and nuts including walnuts, almond, and pecans contain a high amount of fat and oil. If your dog accidentally ate macadamia nuts, it can have health problems such as weakness, vomiting, tremors, depression, and hyperthermia.  Do not expect that your pet can show side effects shortly after it took this forbidden food because signs can be shown within 12 hours and even later. The oils from nuts can cause serious vomiting, diarrhea, and pancreatitis.

Lactose in milk can cause stomach issues not only in people but also in dogs. Dogs don’t possess significant amounts of lactase that breaks down the lactose, so the results for taken milk products can be diarrhea, stomach cramps and etc.

Even though they have a strong and tasty smell, vegetables like chives, onion, and garlic can cause gastrointestinal irritation and may lead to red blood cell damage.  The bacteria such as Salmonella and E.colli can be found in raw meat, eggs, and bones and can harm both people’s and dogs’ health. Eating raw eggs leads to skin and coat problems, so you have to be very careful about it.  It is not good for a dog to eat too much salty food, as well as foods that contain sweeteners such as Xylitol. Large amounts of salt consisted in snack foods may lead to serious health problems and even death. Some of the side effects are excessive thirst and urination, sodium ion poisoning, vomiting, diarrhea, tremors, depression, elevated body temperature, and seizure. Products like gums, baked food and candies and even toothpaste have a high level of Xylitol which causes insulin release and leads to liver failure while increasing insulin leads to hypoglycemia. One of the first signs of such problems are vomiting, lethargy and loss of coordination.

If in some strange case your dog grabs Yeast Dough, it can rise in its stomach an cause very serious problems. First of all, it can cause gases in your pet’s digestive system, which leads to stomach bloating, potentially twist which is a life- threating emergency. Yeast also produces ethanol so your dog can get drunk also.
